# Collaborate with Team Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/collaborate ## Invite your teammates You can invite your teammates to Polymet and share your projects for designing together. To do that, you need to be in the Projects page, and click user profile section, then Manage Members. Then send invite to your teammates by email. ## Manage their plans Also you can update their user levels; Admin, Member and Viewer. **Admins** can invite new members and can remove, also they're managing the organization. **Members** can see and update projects, create designs. They can't invite new members to the main organization. **Viewers** can only see and follow the design process, can't edit or can't invite new teammembers. After inviting your teammates into Polymet, you can share your projects by right clicking your projects and "share with team" # Design Folders Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/design-folders In your projects, you'll find different types of design files: mock data, components, pages, and prototypes. Let's explore what these are, how they work, and how to use them effectively. ## Mock Data A mock data file contains the data used across your pages and components. We keep this data separate from other files to create a more maintainable and scalable codebase. This separation provides benefits during code export and integration. When you need to update content, you can simply modify the mock data file. Here's an example: ## Components Components are the building blocks of design—reusable pieces that make up pages and products. We start with components to ensure modularity, reusability, and scalability. Each component serves a specific purpose, making code management easier and reducing duplication while maintaining consistency. Common components include sidebars, headers, hero sections, charts, and info cards, etc. Here are some examples: ## Pages Pages are the main sections of your application that import components to create your product's visuals. Examples include dashboard pages, user pages, analytics pages, settings pages, etc. You can create different page variations by specifying existing component names or using prompts. While you can delete pages you don't plan to use, note that this action cannot be undone. You can interact with pages and imported items, though full functionality is available only in prototypes. ## Prototypes Prototypes let you connect multiple pages and focus on complete user flows. They incorporate your project's mock data, components, and pages. You can share prototypes with others for feedback by clicking "Open in a new tab". You can create multiple prototypes using the same components and pages from your project. If you need a prototype, simply ask AI in the chat. For example, you can build your landing page, internal dashboard, and main product in the same project by creating three different prototypes, all using the same component library. # Polymet DPA Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/dpa Last Updated: Polymet Data Processing Addendum is last updated at 14/05/2026. ### Data Processing Agreement (DPA) The DPA outlines Polymet’s responsibilities as a data processor, including scope of processing, subprocessor controls, breach notification and incident response. We're here to help. # Migrate to Canvas Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/migrate We recently announced Polymet Canvas to enhance our user experience. This guide explains how to migrate your projects from the previous generation pipeline to the Canvas interface. To begin, open the legacy project you want to migrate to Canvas. Once you click the "Migrate to Canvas" button, the Migration panel opens. Now you can select which pages to migrate to Canvas. You're free to select multiple pages if your project has them. After selecting your pages, click "Start Migration" to begin the preparation process. Now, if your project has no specific duplicate components in different pages, you can easily migrate them into Canvas. But if there're multiple different components which have same name, now it'll ask you which page you would like to proceed. After your selection here, you can migrate your project into Canvas. ## FAQs ### Can I migrate multiple projects into a single project? For now, you can only migrate pages from your one legacy project into a Canvas project. But we're working on migrating legacy project pages into an existing Canvas project. However, you can migrate different pages from a legacy project to different Canvas projects. ### Can I use my legacy project after migrated to Canvas? Yes, after migration you'll have both a Canvas project and a legacy project. While you can use both, Legacy projects will only be supported until May 1, 2025. After that date, you won't be able to create new generations in legacy projects, though you can still access them. ### Some of my project files were not transferred after migration, what can I do? We're working on migrating pages from a legacy project into an existing Canvas project. So then, you'll be able to migrate missing pages into your exising Canvas project. But for now as a work around: rather than repeating the migration, we recommend taking a screenshot of the missing project files and generating a similar page or component in Canvas. If you run into any issues, contact us through the in-app chat. # Polymet 101 Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/polymet-101 Polymet is an AI Product Designer at your service. After analyzing so many pricing pages and their data at Polymet, we've identified why certain pricing pages consistently outperform others and how we can get them from Polymet via simple prompts. We noticed that there are so many important steps, but these six tips strengthen your product pricing page. Lets break down successful product pricing pages and prompts and understand why each element matters.' # What should you consider when creating a pricing page? ### 1. Keep it Simple When we investigate great Pricing pages like [Hubspot](https://www.hubspot.com/hs-fs/hubfs/best-pricing-page-examples-hubspot.jpeg?width=1300\&name=best-pricing-page-examples-hubspot.jpeg), [Zendesk](https://www.hubspot.com/hs-fs/hubfs/best-pricing-page-examples-zendesk.jpeg?width=1300\&name=best-pricing-page-examples-zendesk.jpeg) , [Notion](https://www.notion.so/pricing), we can see that they’re keeping the design simple to users focus on pricing and benefits. B2B SaaS is more relevant to the value you provide to your users, and differentiation between good customer in this context here the receivers of the created value. You don’t want to get bad customers, and differentiating good customers in this section is related to how you transform your products’ value for them. ### 2. Start with a Free Option to attract users Free options reduce friction. Startups generally need to reduce friction in onboarding and customer retention. Eliminating the initial purchasing barrier allows your PLG to work more efficiently. ### 3. Use a value-focused headline Value-focused headlines shift your messaging cost to outcomes. Customers buy your products but pay for the value they create, so if you express the value better, you can immediately address their “what is in it for me?” question. ### 4. List only essential features under the packages Essential features deliver your core value proposition. For example, “Unlimited team members" is more impactful than listing granular features like "user management, role settings, team permissions" separately. ### 5. Emphasize your best plan with visual cues When users see a "recommended" plan, they have a clear starting point for comparison, which speeds up their decision-making process. Recommending a plan to your users shows that you understand their needs and aren't just pushing the most expensive option. ### 6. Build trust with testimonials, customer logos, or reviews In the B2B context, it increases conversion if they’re respected companies because they think that our peers are using this tool. Customer proof elements work 24/7 as a silent salesforce, providing third-party credibility that's more persuasive than any marketing copy. # Which prompts give crafted results at Polymet? There are some targeted prompt examples for better pricing pages that we tested and analyzed, which work great at Polymet. However, you should consider that the best prompts give you better context. HRCOMP is our company name, and our target audience is enterprise HR departments. Create a pricing page highlighting our product's value tiers: Customers can solve their documentation needs. Use a value-focused headline. List only essential features under the packages (5-6 features most). Include 3 pricing tiers: Basic, Professional, and Enterprise. For each tier, list some key features that demonstrate increasing value. Use language that emphasizes ROI and scalability. Include an annual billing option with a discount. Design with clean and minimal typography, ample white space, and clear feature comparison. Design a pricing page optimized for conversion. Target audience: small business owners. Structure: 3 tiers named Starter, Growth, and Scale. Include monthly and annual pricing options. Highlight the Growth plan as 'Most Popular' with a distinctive visual treatment. Each tier should have clear use-case descriptions like 'Perfect for solopreneurs' or 'Ideal for growing teams.' Add urgency elements such as 'Limited Time Offer' for annual plans. Include a comparison table below pricing cards showing detailed feature breakdowns. Add trust signals: money-back guarantee badge, security certifications, and customer logos. Starp is a Finance tool, and our target customers are early-stage startups. Generate a customer-centric pricing page that addresses common user pain points. Create 4 tiers: Free, Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. Each tier should solve specific problems, like 'Perfect for testing the waters' (Free) to 'Complete business automation' (Ultimate). Include hover states that reveal detailed feature explanations. Add interactive elements like a monthly/annual toggle with clear savings callouts. Feature comparison should be scannable with checkmarks and tooltips for complex features. Include FAQs addressing common pricing concerns. Use benefit-focused feature descriptions instead of technical specifications. Include a side-by-side comparison tool. Add microcopy explaining technical terms. All in all, you can try more at Polymet; feel free to contact us with any questions, feedback, and thoughts! # Privacy Policy Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/privacy-policy Last Updated: This Privacy Policy was last updated on 14/05/2026 Polymet AI, Inc. Left of the canvas, there's a chat area where you can interact with AI and the project assets panel in the top left displays all your components, pages, and prototypes. Polymet.ai Infinite Canvas interface Prototypes are actually interactive design elements - you can tweak, share, invite your teammates. In the Canvas, you can see all your pages and components - edit them via prompts. Or you can jump into the "Focus view" its for details-level edits and changes. Gives users power of changing & exploring new alternatives easily. Focus view for detailed editing # Design Pages and Components For designing new components and pages, you can send simple prompts in chat area. After you create your files, you can send extra prompts to create the other pages in the same app. Also, you can create your landing page or product page by using the same design layout and language. Some example prompts: * Create the other pages for this project. * Create 5 different variations for hero section, I'll pick one of them and use then. * After users click this component, open a modal which shows the details. # Make Edits You can do different level edits to iterate your design. 1. You can leave comments to AI by selecting part of your components, pages and prototypes. 2. You can edit your design by editing the code section. Focus view for detailed editing ### Visual Edits You can also manually edit parts of your component files. # Run Your Prototype After you create your pages, components and tweak your design - now you can run your prototype. We generally prepare a prototype for you, its already built - but you can mention pages and components in the prompt and create new prototypes. * You can create 5 different variation of same flow by sending prompts like "create prototype for these (page names here) and (component names here)" * After you create your first prototype, you can link it with the other ones. # Prompting Guide Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/prompting-guide Best practices for writing effective prompts in Polymet Writing better prompts helps you get the most out of Polymet. While we provide system-level assistance, prompts written by you with real context consistently lead to better results. Here are our best practices for crafting powerful prompts: ### Use your product context Don’t just say, “Generate a table.” Instead, explain where the table will be used, who the user is, and what problem it solves.\ Example: Create a pricing table for a SaaS product targeting early stage AI-agent startups. It should compare three plans(basic, starter and pro) and highlight features like figma integrations, maximum user limits, and priority support. Use #FF6600 as a primary color. ### Focus on your product, not technical details Technical stacks don’t help. Polymet works best when you describe how your product works, who it’s for, and what kind of experience you want to create.\ Include details like: * *What the user sees and does* * *The problem your product solves* * *Existing UI/UX flows* * *Preferred design styles or themes* ### Build step by step Trying to generate an entire product in one go often fails. Work iteratively: 1. *Start with one page (e.g., the dashboard home).* 2. *Add more pages (e.g., analytics, settings).* 3. *Add interactions and flows later.\ This leads to better structure, clarity, and consistency.* ### Include context in your prompts Each prompt should be self-contained. Provide enough information, like: I'm building an onboarding page for a fintech app. The goal is to guide new users through account setup. We're designing a user settings page for managing notifications and privacy. Even brief context improves results. ### Be specific and set clear limits Narrowing the scope helps. The more specific your instructions, the more creative Polymet can be within those boundaries.\ Example: Create a hero section with a product image on the right and a CTA on the left. No navbar yet. Targeting designers. ### Keep prompts focused As your project grows, avoid prompts that cover multiple components or pages at once. Break down complex tasks: * *First, create the first page by using context of the page and style information.* * *Then, refine the style and set your preferences.* * *Then, build your other pages, and stick to one goal per prompt for better results.* ### Define your style early Set design tokens and visual language upfront—spacing, fonts, colors, radii—so new pages align automatically. As changing full projects styles later is harder. ### Create flows with prompts Once your designs are ready, define flows by prompting actions for specific elements.\ Example: When users click this button, open a modal with... ### Using image prompts When you upload an image, Polymet tries to replicate its style and layout. For more control, combine images with descriptive text prompts. ### Import your Figma files starting point If you already have a Figma design, use "Polymet x Figma plugin" and import your design frames into Polymet and build on top of it. ### Create a mini design system prompt If you've already have a design system documentation and wanted to use those information in your generations, prepare a guideline for your first prompt by using LLMs, or manually - which includes: * Brand foundations (voice & tone, design principles) * Color system (palette swatches) & color usage rules * Typoghraphy (token, size, weight, letter-space, usage) * Spacing, layout & grid (breakpoints, max-widths, border radius) * Iconography (icon library, stroke) - we're using lucide-react * Motion (animation information) * Components (components, core actions, irreversible actions, states) * UX patterns (general ux overview of the product) * Accessibility checklist (ARIA roles, text scaling, color rules) Make sure that the generated mini design system prompt is not bigger than 6K character limitations. ### Write naturally Use full sentences and clear, specific language. Polymet is an AI product designer, but it learns best from **natural, human-like instructions.** ### Multiple prototypes You can create multiple prototypes in the same project. They can reuse components and pages but follow different user flows. Main use-case: users can create different prototypes to see different variations of the same problem. ### Make it conversational Even for small features, keep it conversational. Polymet remembers your project context, so adjust prompts as needed for better results. ### Control the scope Polymet rewrites or modifies files based on your prompt. Be explicit about what to change and what to leave untouched.\ Example: Update core functionality and implement edits, but leave other features and flows as is. ### Lock files (conceptually) While you can’t lock files, you can signal areas not to change by including phrases like: This update is delicate. Review dependencies carefully, avoid disruptions, and ensure files x, y, and z remain unchanged. ### Optimize for mobile Polymet generates responsive designs, but you can still prompt mobile-first improvements: Optimize for mobile while maintaining the current design and functionality. Test across devices to ensure proper layout and responsiveness. ### Ask for reasoning Polymet starts with a plan before building, but you can ask for explicit reasoning:\ Example: Before editing, create a phased plan for adding responsiveness. Prioritize layout components, then refine smaller elements. Share the plan for review. ### Refactoring For performance improvements, prompt Polymet to refactor code: Refactor this file without changing its UI or functionality. Document existing behavior, improve maintainability, and proceed cautiously to prevent issues. ### Review refactoring After refactoring, review to confirm nothing broke: Conduct a post-refactor review. Ensure the UI and functionality are unchanged. Compare the app's behavior with pre-refactor specs and flag discrepancies. ### Debugging prompts Tackle issues one at a time. Try the “Fix errors” option up to **three times** before exploring other solutions.\ You can use any LLM that can good at coding when debugging outputs, it'd be better if you give: * Context about the error you encountered * Console logs * Screenshots, if needed Ask for specific solutions, not high-level explanations. For example:\ “Don’t give me general advice—show me the code or provide a concrete fix. Be concise, precise, and proactive.” ### Handling unexpected outputs If the generated code is good to go but your app behaves unexpectedly: 1. Retrace your prompts. 2. Break down the problem. 3. Use rollbacks and rephrase your prompt. *** By following these principles, you'll help Polymet generate higher-quality results, reduce rework, and move faster across every stage of your design process. If you'd like to suggest new methods that you've tried before, please share with us at [support@polymet.ai](mailto:support@polymet.ai) # Security Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/academy/security Last Updated: Polymet Security Overview Page is last updated at 25/04/2025 ## Security Overview Polymet employs a comprehensive security model designed to protect the confidentiality and integrity of customer-submitted data, including proprietary code and project assets. Recognizing the importance of securing all managed systems and operations, Polymet applies industry-leading controls to ensure that data is shielded from unauthorized access, tampering, or disruption. ## Threat Model Polymet’s threat model comprehensively addresses risks across communication channels, data storage, response mechanisms, failover strategies, and more. To protect against eavesdropping, all client interactions with the Polymet service are secured through end-to-end encryption. Data integrity is preserved through continuous integrity checks; in the event of detected tampering—whether at rest or in transit—transactions are immediately aborted and alerts are raised. Rigorous authentication and authorization procedures are enforced for every inbound request, ensuring that only verified users can access protected resources. To maintain accountability, Polymet records all project-level events, including policy changes and actions performed on sensitive information, with full audit trails capturing timestamps, user identities, IP addresses, and relevant metadata. The platform also continuously monitors for anomalous activities, such as authentication attempts from unfamiliar sources, enabling early detection and response to potential threats. ## External threat overview Polymet’s platform is composed of several interconnected systems, including its internal APIs, storage backend, and the frontend APIs. Every interaction between these components is secured to protect customer data at all stages. All inbound requests to the internal APIs must originate from authenticated and authorized sessions through the frontend APIs, ensuring that only verified users can access sensitive information. The storage backend, by design, is treated as an untrusted environment. To safeguard data before it enters storage, Polymet applies AES 256 encryption either on the client side or server side, depending on the operational context. Additionally, all communication between the platform and the storage backend is secured through TLS encryption, providing an extra layer of protection against unauthorized interception or tampering during transmission. ## Internal threat overview Within Polymet, a critical security concern is an attacker gaining access to sensitive data that they are not permitted to, especially if they already have some degree of access to the system. There are currently two authentication methods categories used by clients where we apply robust authentication and authorization logic. ### JWT This token category is used by users and included in requests made from the frontend APIs or elsewhere to the internal APIs. Each token is authenticated against the API and mapped to an existing user in Polymet. If no existing user is found for the token, the request is rejected by the API. Each token assumes the permission set of the user that it is mapped to. For example, if a user corresponding to a token is not allowed access to a certain organization or code, then the token is also not valid for any requests concerning those specific resources. ## Infrastructure ### High availability Polymet leverages the globally distributed, serverless infrastructure of Vercel and the high availability capabilities of its Supabase-managed PostgreSQL backend to ensure resilience, performance, and fault tolerance. * Vercel: Polymet’s frontend and API endpoints are deployed across Vercel’s global edge network. Incoming requests are served from the nearest geographic region, improving latency and fault tolerance. Vercel’s serverless model automatically scales on demand and routes traffic through redundant regions in the event of outages. * Supabase backend: Supabase is built on top of PostgreSQL and provides enterprise-grade features such as automated daily backups, point-in-time recovery (PITR), high availability (HA) configurations with automatic failover, and database replication. These features ensure that customer data remains durable and available even in the event of underlying infrastructure failures. Together, Vercel’s edge-distributed deployment model and Supabase’s high-reliability PostgreSQL infrastructure ensure that Polymet remains consistently available and performant under varying workloads, while minimizing the risk of data loss or downtime. ## Platform ### Web application Polymet utilizes the latest HTTP security headers and enforces a strict Content-Security-Policy to mitigate risks such as Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks. User authentication is federated exclusively through WorkOS, leveraging Google Single Sign-On (SSO) via OAuth 2.0 standards. After successful authentication with Google through WorkOS, Polymet issues short-lived access tokens to the client, representing the authenticated session. * Access tokens are securely stored in browser memory and are appended to outbound API requests that require authentication. * Refresh tokens are stored in HttpOnly cookies to obtain new access tokens without requiring users to manually re-authenticate. * All user permissions, organizational memberships, and session validations within Polymet are managed based on the federated identity information received from Google SSO. This setup ensures a secure, streamlined, and scalable authentication flow for users accessing Polymet services through their Google accounts. ## Employee Data Access Whether or not Polymet employees can access data in the Polymet instance and/or storage backend depends on how you use Polymet: When using the Polymet managed service, oversight and operational management are delegated to Polymet under strict internal policy controls. Employees are granted access to infrastructure components based on the principle of least privilege, meaning they are only allowed access to the systems necessary to perform their duties. With respect to user-generated projects and content, Polymet employees do not make any changes to customer projects without explicit user request or user consent. If assistance or modifications are required within a customer's project, Polymet employees will first coordinate directly with the user to confirm approval before proceeding. No unsolicited modifications or interventions are made to customer projects under any circumstances. ### Third-Party Audit Status (SOC 2) Polymet is undergoing a SOC 2 Type I audit, with a completion date targeted for Q2 2025. The audit scope includes: * Encryption and access control * Change management * Monitoring and alerting systems * Employee onboarding/offboarding * Incident response planning * Vendor security assessments We will share the SOC 2 Type I report with enterprise customers under NDA upon completion. ## Incident Response Actions Polymet maintains a formal Incident Response Plan designed to address and mitigate security incidents in a timely and transparent manner. In the event of a confirmed incident, affected customers are notified within 24 hours. Where required by applicable regulations—such as Article 33 of the GDPR—relevant supervisory authorities are informed within 72 hours. Throughout the investigation, Polymet provides ongoing updates and shares a detailed root cause analysis upon resolution. ## Get in touch If you have any concerns about Polymet or believe you have uncovered a vulnerability, please get in touch via the e-mail address [info@polymet.ai](mailto:info@polymet.ai). This guide will explore some Polymet features that can elevate your design process. These aren't just random tips – they've tested techniques we've learned from watching and talking to hundreds of users to create amazing designs. ## Beyond the Colors While the color picker in the top-left is handy for quick changes, here's a pro tip that gives you perfect control: use HEX codes directly in your prompts. Instead of saying, "Make it orange," try: “Change this button to #FF4600” This technique is particularly powerful when: * You need to match your brand colors exactly * You're working with a specific design system * You want to ensure consistency across components ## Bring Your Code Most users don't realize that Polymet isn't just for starting from scratch. Do you have existing code you want to build upon? You can actually paste your front-end code directly into Polymet and use it as a starting point. For example, let's say you have a navigation component that's almost perfect but needs tweaking. Simply: 1. Copy your existing front-end code 2. Paste it into the input area 3. Make your edits through prompts 4. Get back production-ready code that maintains your original structure Sometimes, the code might need minor adjustments to work perfectly with Polymet, but the time saved compared to starting from scratch is worth it! ## Insert your image "But what about my existing assets?" - we hear you! While we're building a comprehensive asset library, there is a great way to work with images in Polymet: “Just grab its URL and paste it in. It's that simple.” A full-featured asset library that will make managing your images even easier. Stay tuned! ## Get your Demo Let's be honest – we all get inspired by other creators. Whether you're browsing [Dribbble](https://dribbble.com/), [Mobbin](https://mobbin.com/), or [Cosmos](https://www.cosmos.so/), sometimes you see elements that would be perfect for your project. Here's how to ethically use inspiration in Polymet: 1. Find a design element you love 2. Screenshot or copy the relevant part 3. Paste it into the input area 4. Use prompts to modify it The goal isn't to copy but to build upon others' work while adding your own unique inputs. Finally, these techniques aren't just tricks—they're design workflow optimizations that can help you work faster and create better designs. Remember, Polymet is an AI Product Design tool, so there are even more creative ways to use it than we've shared here. However, it has now transformed into a [strategic process](https://uxdesign.cc/5-reasons-why-good-ui-ux-design-is-science-not-art-fd3e8d03c001) that drives business success, such as conversion and retention rates. Modern product design combines user experience, interface design, and technical feasibility to create digital products that solve real user problems. Traditionally, this required extensive design expertise and mastery of professional tools like [Figma](www.figma.com) or [Sketch](https://www.sketch.com/). AI is fundamentally changing this landscape. Perfect for anyone wanting to create an app quickly and effectively. ## Introduction Did you know that users spend most of their screen time on mobile and web apps these days? That’s why crafting a solid app design is more critical than ever. I still remember scrambling to mock up screens with half-baked wireframes, only to realize it took ages for me and my teammates to iterate on the final UI. Luckily, we’re now in a golden era of AI — **Polymet**— can speed up everything from the initial concept to your final app mockup. If you’ve been looking for a straightforward, complete app design guideline, you’re in the right place. This article will share details about Mobile and Web App UI\&UX design process and how Polymet can speed up this process. ## Why Mobile-First Matters Mobile-first design isn’t just a trendy buzzword; it’s about prioritizing smaller screens first, ensuring your user interface elements work well under tight constraints. When your mobile app UI is optimized from the start, you minimize bad layout changes later, enabling a fluid user experience on both phones and tablets. If you're building some things on B2C, by thinking “small” before going big, you inherently focus on what matters most—core features and user flow. ## Key Steps in Designing an App ### 1. Clarify Your Scope & Goals Start by pinning down your main objectives. And ask yourself these questions: * Is this app for e-commerce? * Social interaction? * A simple booking system? Jot down each function carefully. Once you know your “must-have” features versus “nice-to-have,” you’ll be able to budget your time, energy, and costs more effectively. So in that way, you can easily go to market with less effort.Scope your vision ### 2. Conduct User & Market Research To understand your users, dig into demographics, pain points, and competitor offerings. I mean, demographics is not user persona, you need to understand the habits of your users, the readings, what they eat, what they listen while working... This fuels your **app design** decisions—like how to inform your color palette, user flows, or basically the messaging of the app. A little research up front creates a roadmap that resonates more with real-world needs. ### 3. Draft Wireframes & Mockups Early in the process, sketch out layouts for your user interface elements. They don’t have to be pixel-perfect. Paper sketches, digital wireframes—whatever you prefer. Once you’re satisfied, you can transform them into clickable prototypes with [Polymet](https://polymet.ai) as which it gives ability to generate rapid mockup screens: just send your prompts, and the AI gives you a structured app layout. ### 4. Polish the UI/UX Now’s the time to add your branding, color schemes, typography, and images-like assets. Keep your mobile app UI consistent and uncluttered. For example think carefully about navigation: do you want a tab bar, burger menu, or floating CTA? Each approach suits a different user flow. Again, [Polymet](https://polymet.ai) can help refine your design at this stage—simply specify the style or theme you want, and watch it deliver multiple variations. ### 5. Develop & Iterate Once your wireframes and UI designs are approved, it’s time to turn them into a real, working app. Start by focusing on the core features—if you’re building a food delivery application, you need to tackle the menu display, cart system, and checkout flow first. Then fill in secondary details like user profiles, notifications, or advanced search later. Throughout development, keep your design files accessible so you reference spacing, typography, and color usage. Even better, if you’re using a tool like Polymet, you can skip repetitive coding tasks and generate ready-to-use UI elements. That way, you can spend more time refining your app’s unique features and less on boilerplate code. Don’t be afraid to iterate several times until your core metrics and user satisfaction signal that you’re ready for the big launch. Each round should make your app more polished, more intuitive, and more aligned with what real users actually need. With **Polymet**, you can export production-ready React code with Tailwind CSS, or even tweak partial elements on your own. Think of it as a jumpstart: the AI handles the repetitive code so that you can focus on your app’s unique value. ### 6. Testing & Feedback Test early, test often. Does your navigation feel natural? Is everything easily reachable with one thumb? Collect user feedback via beta groups, or run usability tests. Then iterate. Polymet’s interactive iteration capability make it super fast to incorporate changes and generate new front-end code each time. ### 7. Launch & Maintain After rounds of refinement and testing, it’s time to go live. Deploying your app to the stores comes with its own requirements. For Android, you can choose either a straightforward beta release or direct publishing, so your app reaches users quickly. For iOS, expect a stricter review. The App Review process checks everything from interface guidelines to performance, so double-check Apple’s rules before you hit “submit.” But launching isn’t the end of your journey—it’s actually where the real work starts. Gather user feedback, monitor crash analytics, and track how well your key features perform in the real world. Even a minor fix—like improving login speed—can boost user loyalty. Plan updates based on what people actually want. Add new features when you see consistent requests, or refine existing flows that seem confusing. The better you listen and respond, the longer your app remains relevant and valued. ## How Polymet Speeds Things Up Let’s illustrate with a real scenario: Recently an e-commerce startup needed to design their web app for quick product browsing and checkout. Instead of messing with dozens of design tools, they simply prompted Polymet. Within minutes, Polymet produced multiple layout variations. UI\&UX Designers and Product Managers from their team picked their favorite and refined details—like brand colors and icon styles. They tested the flow, made small edits, and then exported the production-ready React code. All of that within a day, avoiding the typical multiple-week design-dev cycle. ## All in all there are some frequently asked questions • Q: How to design an app? * The best approach is to define your goals, research users, wireframe your core features, create interactive prototypes, and then refine the UI. Once you’re satisfied, develop and test before launching. Polymet can drastically reduce guesswork by generating design variations swiftly. • Q: How much does it cost to design an app? * Costs vary depending on complexity, the number of screens, and required expertise. Its a natural starting point. That’s what motivated people to explore UI patterns: they’re tried-and-true design solutions that ensure users feel right at home on a website or mobile app. Today, we'll walk through five core patterns, highlight best practices, and share how [Polymet](https://polymet.ai) can bring these designs to life with couple of prompts. ### What is User Interface? User interface (frequently UI) is the collection of visual elements inside the product page, you can think buttons, screens, and forms that guide people through a digital experience. It’s the key to turning fascinating ideas into practical, easy-to-use products, highlighting the crucial connection between a system’s capabilities and the user’s needs. ### What are the UI patterns? UI patterns are repeatable frameworks or solutions to everyday design challenges. They help teams maintain consistency, speed up development, and design experiences that users instantly recognize. From navigation bars to login forms, these patterns reduce guesswork and free designers to focus on bigger-picture goals, like storytelling or brand identity. ### What Is User Interface Design? In the meantime, user interface design is the art of shaping how an app or website looks, feels, and flows. It combines visual design, interaction design, and simplicity to craft experiences people enjoy. By focusing on clarity and familiarity, UI design removes friction and helps users reach their goals effortlessly. There are so many different UI patterns that designers should know, this article includes 5 common UI patterns that we're encountering so many times. ## 1. Forgiving Format Imagine you’re on “FlightNow,” searching for flights. You enter your travel dates as “12-15-2023” instead of “12/15/2023,” and the form auto-corrects it. That’s a forgiving format in action—no annoying errors, just an intuitive fix. People hate feeling scolded, so forgiveness fosters trust. **Pro Tip:** Validate user input on the fly. Instant feedback goes a long way toward eliminating frustration. ## 2. Breadcrumbs Browsing products on “Buy Now,” you might see a small trail of links at the top: Home › Electronics › Smartphones. These breadcrumbs reassure you about your current location and the path you took to get there. Simple, clear, and essential for complex site structures. **Pro Tip:** Keep labels short and relevant. Avoid clutter that overwhelms the user. ## 3. Subscription Plans Netflix is a great example of subscription-based UI patterns. With clearly outlined tiers—Basic, Standard, Premium—users can pick what level best fits their budget. Plus, Netflix highlights the most popular choice, making selection even easier. **Pro Tip:** Always display plan differences in plain, straightforward language. Don’t hide the details or people will bail. ## 4. Leaderboard Think of “FitRank,” an app tracking your daily steps versus friends. The leaderboard pattern rewards users through gamification. It fosters friendly competition and keeps people engaged. **Pro Tip:** Ensure clarity in how ranks are calculated. If the user’s rank appears ambiguous, the leaderboard loses credibility—and the app loses users. ## 5. Dark Patterns Not every pattern is beneficial. Dark patterns are deceptive UI tricks that nudge users toward unwanted actions—like sneaky extra fees at checkout. While they may produce short-term gains, they typically erode trust long-term. **Pro Tip:** Always opt for transparent interaction. Trust is everything in digital products. Lose it, and users rarely come back. ## Best Practices with Real-Life UI Elements From LinkedIn’s step-by-step onboarding to Amazon’s one-click checkout, the most successful UI design patterns minimize friction. They guide users toward completing tasks without confusion. Clarity, brevity, and consistency are your best friends. Whether creating a mobile UI pattern or web UI pattern, aim for an intuitive journey—one that enhances, rather than complicates, the experience. ## How Polymet Simplifies UI Patterns with AI So, how does Polymet come into play? I used to waste hours coding variations of the same design components—forms, navbars, subscription pages, you name it. With Polymet, you can simply prompt the AI for a specific UI component. 1. Prompt-Based Generation: You describe the UI pattern—Polymet generates it. 2. Edit part of the design: Don’t like the output? Send edit prompts to tweak the part of the design. 3. Team Collaboration: Share your project links with stakeholders, get feedback, and refine instantly. 4. That solid backbone that guides every decision from the first draft of layouts to user experience—almost like a compass for the brand creative process. ## **So, what is design philosophy?** A design philosophy is a guiding framework that shapes how designers approach every aspect of creating a product or experience. It encompasses the brands’ core beliefs, values, aesthetic principles, targets, and the way they are selected to convey their value. Defining a design philosophy clarifies what matters most in your work. It keeps every choice consistent with your broader vision, from UI elements to broader user flows. ## Historical Context The concept of a design philosophy is far from new. In fact, it traces back to early 20th-century movements like the Bauhaus school, which championed the unity of form and function as an artistic ideal. Modernist icons like Charles and Ray Eames expanded on these ideas throughout the mid-century, blending playfulness and utility in their work. I’m especially drawn to Dieter Rams at Braun, who famously urged us to embrace “Less, but better.” That wasn’t just a catchy phrase: it was a complete design mindset that stripped away unnecessary frills and distilled complex features into clean, approachable solutions. His meticulous approach laid the groundwork for future product designers—many of whom carried this torch into today’s minimalist wave. Charles and Ray viewed design success through the lens of universal human behaviors rather than individual quirks. This philosophy is exemplified in Charles’s stance that *chair design should accommodate natural sitting habits rather than trying to enforce idealized postures.* ## Modern Applications Today, we see design philosophy in companies like Apple, where product design philosophy centers on sleek minimalism and seamless UX design philosophy. Or take Airbnb, which focuses on fostering belonging and community through carefully tailored interfaces. These brands show that a cohesive set of design principles can elevate user experiences, strengthen brand loyalty, and spark creativity. You can read more about Apple’s Design Philosophy [here](https://adplist.substack.com/p/apples-8-secrets-to-great-design) Airbnb Design Philosophy is [here](https://medium.com/design-bootcamp/design-focused-principles-airbnbs-success-story-ebff55172d7a) ## Best Practices & Core Principles Every strong design philosophy relies on fundamental design elements—things like color harmonies, typography choices, layout balance, and intuitive workflows. When you stick to these principles of design, you’re able to develop consistent, user-friendly solutions: • **Keep visuals coherent:** Align your aesthetic with your brand’s voice. • **Functionality:** Prioritize usability and functional design, as design is how it works. • **Stay adaptable:** Evolve as user needs, technology, and design trends shift. ## How to Develop Personal Design Philosophy A personal design philosophy emerges when you reflect on your own values and sources of inspiration: **1) Identify your core interests:** Maybe you’re obsessed with clean lines and white space or love bold colors. **2) Take inspiration from the world around you:** Find examples of artists, architects, or established design philosophies that align with your taste. But first, inspired by them.   **3) Experiment, then refine:** Take each concept for a spin, see how it sits with you, and refine your design approach. **4) Adopt new tech responsibly:** Innovations in AI can help streamline your process but don’t forget your unique perspective. This self-driven method ensures your philosophy evolves naturally. ## Impact on Brand & Creativity I’ve seen firsthand how a thoughtful product design philosophy can consistently shape an entire brand identity. That sense of disconnect—where colors, fonts, and overall layouts clash—can leave you feeling disoriented and even doubtful about the brand’s reliability. I’ve seen this happen time and again with fast-growing startups, where everyone’s rushing to get features out the door, and design consistency falls through the cracks. After all, who has time to comb through countless Sketch files, Figma boards, or Slack messages just to figure out which button style you’re supposed to use? This is exactly where a **design system** comes into play. It gives us a single source of truth—a complete map of all the *reusable components, visual tokens, and patterns that define a product’s experience*. More importantly, it helps everyone on the team—from product owners and designers to developers—speak the same design language. When you think about well-known examples like the [Carbon design system](https://carbondesignsystem.com/) from IBM or [Atlassian’s design system](https://atlassian.design/), it’s easier to see the value. They have neatly documented guidelines and component libraries that let every product or feature piggyback on a shared framework. That’s how you deliver a cohesive experience, even if your team is large and geographically scattered. But building a design system can be a huge undertaking. You have to identify every component your product needs, decide how they tie together, set up your token structure for colors and typography, and then ensure every single decision gets properly documented. That documentation matters because it’s the lifeblood of your system—without it, new hires and even experienced team members end up in guesswork mode. And guesswork is the enemy of both productivity and brand consistency. The good news is, you don’t have to do it all by hand anymore. With Polymet you can automate much of that manual grunt work and concentrate on the creative thinking that truly sets your brand apart. [Polymet](https://polymet.ai) helps you generate components from prompts, tweak them in real time, and maintain a tidy library of everything you need. So as you scale, you can keep that polished, consistent feel no matter how many new pages or features you cram into your product. By the time you’ve put together a robust design system, not only will your users notice the difference, but your teams will also appreciate the clarity and speed it brings. Because the best design systems aren’t just about having cool-looking components—they’re about weaving an entire brand narrative into every pixel and ensuring that no matter where someone encounters your product, they recognize that it all comes from one place. **What is a design system?** A design system is a well-defined and structural collection of reusable design assets—components, tokens, guidelines—that keeps digital products visually cohesive and user-friendly. It eliminates guesswork, speeds up alignment, and ensures a team’s brand identity is clear and consistent in every release. ## Design System Components Picture your design system as a well-organized toolbox jam-packed with every nut, bolt, and gadget you need to build an interface. Instead of starting from scratch each time you design a new screen, you pick out the pieces you need—knowing they’ll fit together seamlessly. That means less time wrestling with inconsistent layouts and more time refining the user experience. These building blocks usually include: • **Components**: Think of them as ready-made UI elements—like buttons, forms, tabs, or cards—that reflect your brand’s personality. For instance, if your team has a signature color palette or specific corner radii, each component follows those so effortlessly that even new designers can drop them into place without rethinking styles each time. • **Tokens**: These are the raw ingredients of your design system, like color codes, font sizes, or spacing rules. Tokens unify products' visual language under one cohesive style, turning the brand’s essence into a set of carefully chosen numbers, hex codes, and guidelines. A single change in a token—say, updating a primary color—ripples through every component, ensuring brand updates are applied instantly across all products. • **Guides**: Even the best components and tokens can create confusion if teams aren’t sure when or why to use them. That’s where written guides come in. They demonstrate the who, what, when, where, and why of your design elements. So if your typography tokens make headlines a distinct size, the guides explain when to use them, what their goal is, and how they might interact with other parts of the interface. • **Styles**: Beyond individual elements and tokens, your design system should capture the overall “feel” of your brand—things like animation choices, micro-interactions, and even tone of voice. These overarching themes connect different features or platforms under a single umbrella. Whether users are switching from a desktop app to a mobile site, styles ensure every touchpoint feels cohesive and familiar. Centralizing these components, tokens, guides, and styles in one place saves entire teams from guesswork and conflicting decisions. Because you’re offering a one-stop resource for everyone, from designers to developers, you drastically reduce the back-and-forth that can eat up countless hours. Instead, you’re free to focus on higher-level improvements, confident that your finished products will look and function like a tightly knit family of digital experiences. ## Documentation It’s one thing to piece together a set of UI elements, but documenting each piece can feel like a herculean task. I’ve personally seen design teams rattle off a polished set of buttons, color tokens, and layout rules, yet nobody knows exactly where to look when it’s time to update or review them. Without a single source of truth—clearly recorded and easy to interpret—everyone risks going off in their own direction. But why is documenting a design system so difficult? First, there’s the sheer amount of information to track. You have visuals, tokens, code snippets, usage guidelines, best practices, and more. For instance, your documentation might detail the difference between a primary and a secondary button, which color tokens are allowed, and how corners should be rounded. Multiply that across dozens of components, and you’ve got a logistical challenge. Then there’s the matter of keeping it current. If your team decides to change a type style or spacing scale, it’s easy for an outdated spec to stay hidden in a long-forgotten Figma file or Confluence page. Before you know it, half your developers are coding to old styles, and new designers don’t know which version to trust. Worse still, your users might see inconsistencies and wonder if something’s broken. Finally, explaining not just the “what” but also the “why” behind each design choice takes time and careful thought. Sure, you can list the individual tokens or components in a single page, but if nobody understands why those tokens matter—or where it’s appropriate to use them—you’re inviting confusion. That’s why well-organized documentation includes both the granular details and a sense of overarching philosophy. So yes, it’s tough. But it’s worth every ounce of effort. Clear, central documentation saves time down the line because new hires and even seasoned team members can get quick answers without searching through Slack threads or asking around for the “right” file. It also prevents guesswork, ensuring everyone is working with the same, correct set of rules. In many ways, thorough documentation is the backbone of a healthy, future-proof design system—because it keeps your design integrity intact, no matter how fast your product evolves. ## Maintenance A design system isn’t something you can simply lock down once and move on. It’s more like a living organism: always growing, adapting, and sometimes even shedding features that no longer fit. As your product evolves, market conditions shift, and brand values change, the components you created a month ago could quickly become outdated. If you keep using those outdated parts, you wind up with inconsistencies that undermine your entire user experience. Much like any software, a design system needs scheduled check-ups and version updates. Think about how often your product roadmap changes—new features may require additional buttons, revised spacing rules, or updated color tokens. That means your system must accommodate them seamlessly. Without a clear update process, designers and developers might start bypassing the system. Over time, you’ll find half your team applying old specs, while the other half rushes ahead with unvetted new ones. This leads to a messy tangle of design debt that’s difficult to unravel. Regular maintenance also means assessing what’s actually being used and eliminating what isn’t. Stagnant or abandoned components only clutter up your library, causing confusion and slowing everyone down when they’re trying to find the right element. By pruning unused parts, you keep the system lean and relevant. The key is to set up a process—maybe monthly or quarterly—to review token changes, gather feedback from teams, and update documentation as needed. Everyone involved should know that a design system update might affect multiple products, so it’s crucial to communicate changes clearly. In the end, it’s an ongoing effort that, if done well, ensures your product stays aligned with both brand vision and user expectations. ## Design System Examples ### IBM’s Carbon Design System Often called the IBM design system, Carbon stands out for its meticulous documentation and carefully chosen tokens. Here’s a straightforward template to get started: 1. **Introduction**: State your design principles and brand mission. 2. **Visual Foundation**: Define typography, color palettes, spacing, icons. 3. **Components**: Build reusable parts (e.g., navbars, modals) and detail their variations. 4. **Guidelines**: Note usage instructions, best practices, and do’s and don’ts for each component. 5. **Documentation**: Keep it all accessible and easy to update. 6. **Versioning**: Track changes, merges, and improvements. ## Polymet’s Value for Design Systems Now, let’s talk about how Polymet directly tackles two major pain points in design system workflows. First, there’s the matter of creating new components. That initial setup—figuring out the right styles, tokens, and interaction patterns—can swallow entire sprints. With Polymet, you feed in prompts describing how you want your component to look and behave, then watch as the AI quickly produces functional prototypes. Teams get a running start and spend less time wrestling with the bare essentials, because the generated output already aligns with the established design system. The second key challenge is refining components from 80% to 100%. In most teams, that final 20% is where the headaches begin—hunting down overlooked spacing issues, adjusting color tokens, or fine-tuning hover states. Polymet smooths out that last stretch, letting you interact with a component to fix tiny quirks or apply brand tweaks. Instead of spending days refining every pixel, you can polish up the final details then move on to more strategic tasks, confident that your design system is consistently applied throughout. ## All in all My biggest takeaway? When done right, a design system combined with the right AI-driven design tool can save you countless hours while creating a refined user experience. If you’re looking to streamline your design system creation and keep everyone on the same page, Polymet is a game-changer. It offers AI-generated components, quick edits, code exports (React + Tailwind CSS), and real-time collaboration. Happy designing. # How to Solve Loading Times with UX: Skeleton Screens Source: https://docs.polymet.ai/blog/skeleton Unlike many UX trends, skeleton screens have research backing that proves they improve users' perception of loading times. *In this two-minute blog, learn how to utilize skeleton screens for your product and create them at Polymet with just a few prompts.* Traditional loading patterns like spinners and progress bars force users to passively watch and wait. Skeleton screens take a different approach by instantly displaying a wireframe preview of the upcoming content. These placeholder layouts—typically shown as light gray boxes with subtle animations—give users a glimpse of what's loading. ## Impacts of skeleton screens [Recent studies](https://www.viget.com/articles/a-bone-to-pick-with-skeleton-screens/) compared skeleton screens to traditional loading patterns: 1. Users consistently rated skeleton screens as feeling faster 2. Skeleton screens caused less frustration during wait times 3. People were more likely to stay engaged when seeing skeleton layouts 4. The pattern worked best for loading times between 2-10 seconds Research also shows that certain skeleton screen animations are more effective than others: * Wave animations that move left to right performed best * Slow, steady motion beat rapid pulsing effects * Subtle animations worked better than dramatic ones ## How can you create your Skeleton Screens at Polymet 1. **Just get the screenshot of your product** 2. **Enter Polymet - "create this interface's skeleton"** 3. **Small tweaks to get the exact interface, as it is hard to do it in just one prompt** 4. **Get its production-ready front-end code.
